AYUAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (ACDA)

SPORTS & ARTS

Sudan’s long-runing civil wars did not give the chance to Southern Sudanese Athletes and Artists to foster their talents. The loss of these talents have been a signicant loss to our community and the nation. Wrestling, basketball, football, volleyball, and running are some of the sport activities that Southern Sudanese would have dominated if decades of civil war had not claimed the lives of over two million of our people. The Southern Sudanese art is unigue and valuable. The ability of art to preserve a culture which has been threatened by war and the encroachment of other civilzations is well understood. As Sudan is currently moving toward peace, ACDA is committed to supporting these activities in the community.

1. Wrestling

Although Nubians and Lotuka are some well-known ethnic communities for wrestling in Sudan, the Dinka of the Ayual community, remained committed to their love of competitive wrestling even during the last devastating 22-years of civil war. Ayual Community still maintains its enjoyment and support of wrestling as you can see in these pictures of some of its top wrestlers.
