Pongborong Primary School Project Update

In February of 2010, construction of the Pongborong Primary School began after payment of 40% of the contract price.   This project is being  primarily funded by the Ayual Community Development Assoc. of America.   Construction engineers from Rhino Stars Construction Co. from Juba began digging the footings and delivering construction material before the rainy season began.   By March of 2010 the footings and infill material for the floor had been completed and the walls were erected.  Periodic reports from Rhino Stars were given to Mabior Maluk (the ACDA representative in Juba) who  then forwarded assessment to the Project Director in the United States for review.  Upon approval  by the ACDA administration, the second payment of 30% of the contract price was made to Rhino Stars and construction began on the roof system and the installation of the windows and doors.  In July, 2010, Mabior Maluk made official visit to the project site and provided  the ACDA with pictures and  assessment of the projects progress.  Despite extremely bad road conditions, the project has progressed and is now deemed 80% complete.  Final payment (of the contract price) is expected to be made in August, 2010 but unanticipated cost over runs have not been financially covered.
